PESTICIDE SAFETY TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES 2010
PSEP conducts workshops and self paced training materials for persons seeking DEC
pesticide applicator certification and re-certification. Initial certification requires a
two-day workshop. Re-certification workshops can be one day. A list of
pesticide training materials and a schedule of coming workshops are posted on this page.

The Annual Certified Pesticide Applicator Conference
will be held at The Anchorage Coast International Inn on Friday March 26th 2010.
Attendance will provide 8 DEC-CEU credits. For further

Copper River/Mat-Su District
Initial and ReCertification for Categories 2 & 3 will be held March
9th & 10th 2010 at the Plant Materials Center 5310 S.
Bodenburg Spur, Palmer. Registration is required, call
745-3360 for details, materials and class registration.

Anchorage District
Initial Certification for all Categories will be held March
24th & 25th 2010 with 2 hour testing on March 26th. Class
will be held at Cooperative Extension Anchorage District office, 2221 E. Northern Lights
blvd. Suite 118. Registration is required, call Dora at 786-6319
for details, materials and class registration.

Fairbanks
Initial and ReCertification for all Categories will be held March
25th 9:00 am to 5:00 pm & March 26th 2010 9:00 am - noon.
You must attend both days. Training to be held at Room 117 University Park
Bldg. 1000 University Ave. For information and registration call 474-1630

Delta Junction
Initial & ReCertification for Categories 2, 3, 4 & 9 will be
held April 21 & 22, 2010 in the Delta Cooperative Extension
Conference Room Jarvis Office Center. Initial certification requires the two day
workshop, re-certification will be a one day workshop. Call 895-4215
for more information and to register. Registration deadline is April 16,
2010.
Wood Preservative (Category 13) training will be a
one-day workshop on Monday April 20th, 2010 at the Delta Cooperative
Extension Conference Room, Jarvis Office Center. For more information and to

RE-Certification Information
| Applicators may renew their certification either
by successfully passing the required exam, or by completing at least 12 approved
Continuing Education Units (CEUs). These activities must be completed prior to
expiration of current certification. Exams may be arranged either through the
Cooperative Extension or the ADEC Pesticide Program. CEUs are available through
attendance at a variety of classes, conferences, and meetings, as well as some on-line
courses. Contact the ADEC Pesticide Program to get more
information on approved CEUs. |

Correspondence and home study training is also available on a limited basis.
Certification may be obtained by completing the correspondence/home study course and
successfully passing the required exam. In these cases, certification is valid for only
one year, regardless of test score.
Please contact the ADEC Pesticide Program directly to obtain an
application for correspondence and home study training. The Pesticide Program will send
study materials after the application is complete and an official examination is
scheduled.
There is an annual $25.00 DEC fee to maintain your certification, DEC will mail you an
invoice for this fee.
