PESTICIDE SAFETY TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES 2012
The 2012 Annual Alaska Certified Pesticide Applicators Conference was a success thanks
to our knowledgeable speakers and interested attendees. Thanks for your
participation and we look forward to next year's conference.

PSEP conducts workshops and provides training materials for persons seeking DEC
pesticide applicator certification and re-certification. Initial and Re-Certification
applicants are strongly encouraged to attend classes as there is a new core exam and
supplemental exams per each category that have proven to be challenging. Students
are encourage to study on their own to become familiar with the materials prior to
attending classes.
You must be 18 years old to apply for certification.

them up in advance when registering for classes in your location.
State of Alaska DEC Pesticide Applicator
Training Schedule
A photo ID at check in is required by DEC to qualify
to take the exam. All certification and re-certification courses are
$30.00

Anchorage District
Initial and Re-Certification will be held March 12-15th from 3:00 pm
- 5:30 pm and Friday March 16th from 9:00 am- 11:00 am and 1:00 pm - 3:00pm. From
3:00 - 6:00pm there will be a proctored test. This class requires attendance for all
dates with testing on Friday afternoon. Pre-registration in required.
Initial and Re-Certification class will be held via- Distance
Education April 3rd 2012 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and April 4th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Pre-registration is required.

Fairbanks
Initial and Re-certification classes will be held via Distance Education April 3rd
from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and April 4th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Pre-registration is
required. Classes will be held at the Tanana District Cooperative Extension Service

Delta Junction
Initial and Re-Certification classes will be held April 3rd from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
and April 4th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Pre-registration is required. For

Kenai Peninsula
Initial and Re-Certification for all Categories will be held via Distance
Education in Soldotna and Homer. Tuesday April 3rd from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and
Wednesday April 4th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with testing on April 4th.

Kodiak
Initial and Re-Certification for all categories will be held via Distance
Education April 3rd from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and April 4th from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

RE-Certification Information
| Applicators may renew their certification either
by successfully passing the required exam, or by completing at least 12 approved
Continuing Education Units (CEUs). These activities must be completed prior to
expiration of current certification. Exams may be arranged either through the
Cooperative Extension or the ADEC Pesticide Program. CEUs are available through
attendance at a variety of classes, conferences, and meetings, as well as some on-line
courses. Contact the ADEC Pesticide Program to get more
information on approved CEUs. |

Correspondence and home study training is also available on a limited basis.
Certification may be obtained by completing the correspondence/home study course and
successfully passing the required exam. In these cases, certification is valid for only
one year, regardless of test score.
Please contact the ADEC Pesticide Program directly to obtain an
application for correspondence and home study training. The Pesticide Program will send
study materials after the application is complete and an official examination is
scheduled.
There is an annual $25.00 DEC fee to maintain your certification, DEC will mail you an
invoice for this fee.
